ARTICLE XIX - CHIEF STEWARD

(a) The Chief Steward shall upon request assist the District Steward in the settlement of any dispute or grievance.

(b) He or she shall be responsible for handling and judging the merit of all grievances in the first step and submitting those not settled to the Grievance Committee.

(c) He or she shall be responsible for supplying any necessary information in writing in regard to a grievance´s first step action when a grievance is placed in second step on a form approved by the Shop Chairperson.

(d) Chief Stewards shall be required to attend at least one out of every three Stewards Council meetings, unless excused. Failure to do so will be considered as a resignation from office. Temporary replacement will be made by the Shop Chairperson.
