ARTICLE XX - DISTRICT STEWARD

(a) Members shall first take all disputes and grievances up with their respective District Stewards who shall have the responsibility of attempting a settlement.

(b) The District Steward shall have the responsibility of handling all complaints and assist (if requested by the Chief Steward) on all grievances that merit first step action.

(c) District Stewards shall be required to attend at least one out of every three Stewards Council meetings, unless excused. Failure to do so will be considered as a resignation from office. Temporary replacement will be made by the Shop Chairperson.

(d) He or she shall be responsible for supplying all necessary information on complaints or grievances in writing on a form approved by the Shop Chairperson and turning the completed form over to the Chief Steward when a grievance is placed in the first step.
