ARTICLE XXVII - NEGOTIATIONS

(a) No Local Union officer, or representative of this Local Union shall have the authority to negotiate the terms of a contract or any supplement thereof or to make any agreement or change to a contract then in force, without first obtaining the approval of the Local Union Membership.

(b) The Negotiating Committee shall be composed of the President, Vice President, Shop Chairperson, Skilled Trades Chairperson and three (3) members elected from the membership.

(c) The Executive Board shall set the date for the election of the Negotiating Committee which shall be elected at a regular Membership Meeting. Nominations for the Negotiating Committee shall be held at the regular Membership Meeting before the election.

(d) The Local Union membership shall determine by majority vote of its members present, all matters relating to contract terms affecting members of the Local.

(d-1) Retired members are not eligible to vote on contract proposals or strike issues.

(e) The Membership shall receive printed copies of all proposed contract changes at least twenty-four (24) hours before any contract ratification meeting. The copies will be distributed at the plants if they are open. If the plants are closed, the copies will be made available at the Union Hall.

(f) Members will be notified at least two days prior of a ratification meeting. The acceptance or rejection of a labor agreement will be by a majority vote, by secret ballot vote, of the members present.
